Tintin Painting Sold For Record Price

764 200 euro: that’s the price a comic book lover paid for the Tintin painting above by Belgian comic book writer and artist Hergé. It’s the highest price ever paid for an original comics drawing. The previous record holder was “Lady in Blue” by Enki Bilal that changed hands for ‘only’ 177 000 euro.

The painting dated from 1932 and was made for the cover of the comic book “Tintin in America”. In the same decade it was given to an old lady and remained for fifty years in a trunk. In the eighties a collectioner bought it and on his turn sold it to a businessman.

Today it was auctioned in Paris where an expert acquired it.
